HAITI

…riding in the back of a big white truck we call “the cage,” snuggling sweaty children on our laps… sun burnt and dirt covered skin from maneuvering the streets of Port Au Prince while standing in the back of another vehicle…  dehydration… running clinic when all we wanted to do was, well, not move… dancing on the roof in the rain… playing basketball with the boys, barefoot and soaking wet… winning our two on one match up, in which we started with a ten point lead and the other team (Walgens) was playing with one eye closed… laughing a lot… providing immeasurable amounts of entertainment with my sun burnt, and apparently fat, arms… laughing…  mmm, Haitian food… worshiping with the boys; singing, dancing, sharing, praying, talking… beginning and ending my day with sweet Keso in my arms… hugs… celebrating beautiful Oline’s birthday with cake and lots of love… tucking Katrina into bed… I love you’s… practicing Creole… laughing… crying.  Just another day in paradise.  Last day in paradise…

So many more precious moments, so many more stories to tell… I’ll write some down so I don’t forget, I’ll tell them if you ask and probably if you don’t, and I’ll relive them often, as I pray for these kids and those caring for them. Pray with me, and if you can, support the efforts to rebuild and restore Haiti. Give. Visit.  Child Hope International is doing great things! As well as HOPE in Haiti, Heartline Ministries, and I’m sure many others. Get involved and please pray.  For the hearts of Haiti’s people, and for BIG change!

This country, these people, have stolen my heart once again. I will be back soon! If I don’t “see you in heaven” first.
