transitions
as paula and i make our transition from Child Hope to Samaritan’s Purse, and wanted to make sure i blogged about another transition… the one the kids go through as they age out of the MDL (maison de lumiere). Child hope has recently put into place a “transition program” for these young people, and we had the chance to tour it as well as get to know the awesome staff working so hard to make this program work. but oh what a project. the house, with a staff of three, is located a short walk from the other Child Hope houses. the different areas of the house are set up to provide training in different skills, and the kids (mostly boys right now) also get help with job placement, tutoring, mentoring, and other things that will aid them in being “grown ups.” at least thats the idea… but it’s all very new, and it’s alot to put on three people. so of course the program is a work in progress, but the thing i love is that it’s happening. and that they have staff that are passionate about helping with the difficulties the MDL kids face when they reach this age. and… the opportunities and the ideas are endless! there is soooo much that this program could be. but it needs many prayers. please pray for the staff: pray for more help and the ability to let people serve in a way that really uses their gifting instead of spreading them so thin. please pray for the young people in the program: that they work hard, receive help well, make an impact on Haiti, and through it all grow closer and closer to Jesus.
